The new ASTM A1085 Standard for HSS

In early April, ASTM (American Society for Testing and Material) announced the release of a new specification for steel structural hollow sections (HSS). This new specification provides for enhanced performance specifically in seismic design and an increased strength to weight ratio which allows for a economical design for HSS shapes. Safety during natural events and a cost savings with materials in these troubled times is always refreshing news.
